Instructional Strategies, Tools and Tips

Podcasting in the classroom

Expanding opportunity for student and teacher agency (voice and choice) you may want to begin exploring the strategy of Podcasting in the school/classroom. Here is a blog post about podcasting (link) by Kasey Bell on her website (www.shakeuplearning.com). According to Bell, “Podcasts are great for learning, exploring personal interests, professional interests, and even a great way for students to learn.”

Building Math Minds

Building Math Minds by Christina Tondevold (link) is a K-5 teacher resources for the best in number sense, numeracy, building conceptual understanding and best practices.  Christina has a vlog that she sends out about once a week and a Building Math Minds Facebook group that I follow. Her vlogs talk about the use of manipulatives or resources and teaching in the K-5 classroom.  She also has some resources for purchase but there a quite a few freebies!

Videos, lesson planning tools & PL modules

Videos, lesson planning tools and resources are all available in extremely high quality at Achieve the Core (link) for both ELA and Math.  For those of you conducting Professional Learning in your school, they have some great modules.
