Spotting and Reporting Phishing Attempts |
Phishing is a cyberattack where scammers impersonate legitimate sources to trick you into providing sensitive information, clicking malicious links, or opening harmful attachments. These attacks often appear as emails pretending to be from trusted companies, coworkers, or even leadership. You may have already received requests from your supervisor that seemed suspicious and after checking realized it was a phishing scam.
To strengthen our defenses, we will soon begin conducting phishing simulations. These internal tests aim to help staff recognize and respond to real threats effectively.

How to Spot Phishing Emails:
-
Unexpected or urgent requests for sensitive information
-
Suspicious links or attachments
-
Email addresses that don’t match the sender’s identity
-
Spelling errors or generic greetings like “Dear User”
|
|
What to Do:
-
Don’t click on links or attachments in suspicious emails
-
Verify the sender. If unsure, contact them via a separate email or another communication method
-
Consider if the email makes sense. Were you expecting it? Does it legitimately concern you?
-
Report phishing by clicking the three dots in Gmail and selecting “Report phishing”
-
Stay alert. Those who repeatedly fall for our phishing simulations will need to complete additional training, and their supervisor will be notified
